I have been a keen amateur photographer practically my whole life. I was given my first camera, an old Yashica with a broken lens casing, at the age of 6. My uncle was going to throw it away so was happy to pass it to me as a "toy" to play with. But it still worked - and from my very first roll of film I was hooked. It was 1972 and on a school trip to Greenwich and the Cutty Sark I took my first snaps. They were the start of my lifelong love affair with photography, and I still have them to this day.

I have attended a few courses over the years, but I am largely self taught. Trial and Error have been my teachers - and I've learned a lot from them (usually the hard way). It is so important to get the basics right in photography, and the rule of "practice makes perfect" genuinely does apply. I've made lots of mistakes along the way and I still do - but I've made a lifelong commitment to getting better with every shoot. The advances in digital photography and post production editing bring added excitement. Whilst there is no substitute for a technically well taken shot, the opportunity to tune and optimise images means that I can be more creative and expressive with my work.

I hope you enjoy viewing my images as much as I did making them.

I've learned to be a better photographer the hard way - but you don’t have to. The thrill of making beautiful images is something I'd love everyone to experience. Let me help you to improve your skills quickly and easily, so that you can achieve the photographic results you desire.
